Footprints in the Snow – Prompt #3

I saw footprints in the snow yesterday. I went outside and bordered off a pair. I wanted to keep them for more than a few seconds.

The kids would be wake in a few. When they see the snow, their eyes will be wide with glee as they jump up and down wanting to go outside and play. They wouldn’t think about what might happen and how much we will miss you, so I saved your imprints for as long as tomorrows will allow.

Jade awoke in sweat soaked pajamas. She had dreamt this shoulda, woulda, coulda dream every day since Mike had died. The last thing she remembered was his footprints in the snow on the last morning he left the house.
